FAQ:
What is Yoga Nidra?
Yoga Nidra is a guided practice of deep rest and inner awareness.
As the body softens toward sleep, awareness remains gently present — inviting profound relaxation, nervous system restoration and contemplative stillness.
The practice is accessible to both beginners and experienced meditators and offers a quiet space for rest, presence and inner listening.
How do I practice Yoga Nidra?
You are welcome to make yourself as comfortable as possible for your practice.
Traditionally Yoga Nidra is experienced lying down, yet any position that feels supportive for your body is welcome. Blankets, cushions or bolsters can help create a greater sense of ease and support.
There is no “perfect” way to experience the practice. You are always free to adjust, rest or simply meet yourself exactly as you are.
What is a Sankalpa?
A Sankalpa is a gentle inner intention used in some Yoga Nidra practices.
Rather than a goal to force, it is a quiet orientation toward a quality or truth you wish to nurture within yourself — such as trust, rest, clarity or ease.
Not all Yoga Nidra meditations include the use of a Sankalpa.
“Yoga Nidra is the yoga of aware sleep.
In this lies the secret of self healing.
Yoga Nidra is a pratyahara technique in which the distractions of the mind
are contained and the mind is relaxed.”
―Satyananda Saraswati
